Introducing another of our great leaders Meagan Williams

Meagan is a major contributor on 4 writing messages and structuring so much of what we do. She also is a major contributor on Sundays leading all of our room leaders.

She is a teacher by profession so you will enjoy her insights that will be popping up every now and then here on cm1234

Welcome aboard Meegs!

----------

As I finished reading the latest tweets on my iPhone this morning, the still, small voice of God said, “Youʼve caught up with everybody else, will you catch up with me now?”

Ouch! The internet is such a great way to keep in touch with friends and relatives interstate and overseas; or ironically, even near home! A simple sentence posted on a website means I can communicate with others over breakfast and thankfully, they donʼt even have to see my morning hair. We twitter our latest thought, what we are doing, who we are seeing, our response to the weather... anything from the mundane to revelation. Itʼs the new ʻSeinfeldʼ - a show about nothing! Example in point, my latest twitter:

“Meagan needs a new vacuum-cleaner. Mine really sucks. No, wait, it doesnʼt...”

Three beloved friends instantly laughed and felt my pain.
These are the daily experiences our Lord wants to laugh and experience with us too. “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV). Prayer is not a compartment of our lives, but a daily relationship with our Father. He is our family, our friend, our mentor, and oh, so much more... We can talk to Him at any time, night or day, and He always instantly responds.

So, go! Twitter away your thoughts with the Lord as you snowboard the slopes of Switzerland, scrub the dishes or teach the kids. He is listening. BTW, FWIW U CAN LOL WITH GOD TOO, AFAIK!

GIVE IT AWAY

June 9th, 2009 by Rob Bradbury, 258 words

Bill Gates is encouraging billionaires to give away their billions. In giving his fortune away he describes it as joy and fun. Gates has decided to use his fortune to help people fight poverty and disease. Bill is moving deeper in the truth of Acts 20:35 that it is better to give than receive.

So one of the worlds richest men agrees that it really is better to give than receive. Even science can prove that this belief actually works

Researchers have been able to scientifically prove the biblical truth by running nineteen people through tests while having their brains scanned. The MRI detected an increase in prefrontal lobe activity when people gave. The larger the donation, the larger the perfrontal love activity.

This results in dopamine and oxytocin being released.

The most significant part of the research was that they figured out that donating is a learned behavior. “Working memory is a significant part of the executive functioning of the prefrontal cortex” (Ratey). “Tis better to give than receive” is one of the most famous verses in the Christian New Testament, and now it has been proven. Jordan Grafman and his team of scientists have found that giving a present to another being actually feels better than receiving a gift from one. Giving a gift activates your Dopamine and Oxytocin releasers, and prefrontal/frontal lobes and even evolves some of these areas.”

Lets keep giving to the cause of Christ! Not only our finances but our dream our imaginations and our lives.

DEAR INTERNET WHAT IS THE ANSWER TO...

Wolfram|Alpha is the latest tech invention to hit cyberspace. It is still in it’s very early days but promises so much potential. A bit like the Richmond Football club really!

Wolfram|Alpha can piece together information from documents all over the web and build answers to questions you might have. For instance if you typed in ‘curriculum’ in Google you will find a list of hits, but if you typed in where can I find a good curriculum? One of it’s answers would be 4 :)

Sorry had to slip it in!

Seriously this has tremendous potential for when you are researching for messages or study, we can only imagine where this technology will be ten years from now...

A huge thanks to everyone else who commented on the last post. My message was on the 7 senses. I had always thought there were 5 senses, but then the BBC produced a series on the human senses suggesting there were 6, the 6th sense being balance. it was a great day with stacks of people giving their lives to Christ.
The comment I used in my message was...

Dave Wakerley’s, thanks Dave.

“taste is one of five senses, the only one that requires us to takes something into our mouth, our bodies.

Every other sense processes what is outside the body, but taste requires you to swallow, digest”

This insight on the uniqueness of the taste sense led me off on with a new trail of thought.
So well done mate there is a copy of Deeper coming your way.
Here is an interesting clip on how many senses we have.
